Africa Cup of Nations - Group B - Sudan

Colours: All red
Capital: Khartoum
Population: 30,894,000
Sudan are the only East African team represented in the finals and they have a proud history in football. They have the oldest league in the continent in the Khartoum state league and were always dominant in the early years of the competition, culminating in victory in 1970. However, they haven't done well since and with the recent problems in the country it is not surprising that football has taken the back seat.

It is hard to name a star player, but the backbone of the team is made up of the reigning champions, Kahrtoum, and seems to centre around defensive midfielder Richard Gastin Lado
