Charity match between Ukraine and Poland fans at Peterborough

 On Saturday we had a really good time at a charity event organised for Ukraine at Peterborough United. Poland won 5-2, but friendship really won. It was great to catch up with some people that I have only 'met' over the internet before and to get a few pints in the usually overcrowded Charters and The Peacock and the always excellent Blind Tiger.

Ely City Reserves 0 Cambridge University Press 2

 A different kind of fixture this week, but the sun was out and the beer was cheap, so a pleasant time was had. I had expected the Reserves to suffer a heavy defeat against the Press. They were never really at the races, but had enough to keep it respectable.

Aston Villa 2 Norwich City 0

 Due to a number of reasons, I haven't really made as much of my Aston Villa membership this season as I probably should have. That said a game on Saturday at 3 o'clock has been pretty rare and this was in fact the last fixture of the season at that time. Thankfully, Villa won against the bottom dwellers of the premier League. Last time we went Villa lost to Watford who were also propping up the table. The win saw the Canaries relegated and cemented Villa in an unspectacular mid-table position. The performance wasn't 100% convincing. Villa were the better team, but there was still a lack of fluidity and coherence that has to be worked. However, a win is a win and the game was settled by a goal from Ollie Watkins just before half time and a goal from Danny Ings with one just before full time.  Positives from the match are clearly both Watkins and Ings doing what they are supposed to do and Ings also assisting the Watkins' goal is clearly something that finally shows that
