Enfield 4 Stowmarket Town 0

This was Enfield's las home game in Bishop Stortford before they move to a groundshare with Hertford next season, after gaining promotion to the Isthmian North last season, they managed to stay up this one. However, they were helped by the demise of East Thurrock and  the poor results of a very young Stowmarket team who provided the opposition today. The first half was fairly miserable with the best chances falling to Stowmarket who hit the woodwork twice. In all senses though it really did have a feel of an end of season game where both teams would be glad to get it over and done with. However, whatever the Enfield players were told at halftime seemed to have the desired effect. Robert Clark opened the scoring for the Es on the 53rd minute and from then on Enfield didn't look back. It looked like a good performance to me, although some of the Stowmarket fans seemed to think that it was a case of heads dropping as soon as they went a goal down. Either way, on the hour mark subs...

Enfield 0 West Essex 2

On Saturday we had another trip to Bishop's Stortford to see the nomadic Enfield take on West Essex in the Essex Senior League and like most of our recent trips, the outcome was pretty disappointing.  Enfield were the stronger team in the first half, but despite a couple of chances early on not a lot happened and the teams went in an equal terms at the break. West Essex came out a bit stronger in the second half, but the real game changer was Zak Oliver, who came on late for the visitors and scored twice and managed to hit the bar too. Not a bad 20 minute cameo! Enfield stay top of the league, but this was a disappointing result and a fairly lackluster performance.

Enfield FC 3 Hackney Wick 0

On Saturday we visited a new ground, but Enfield FC - not to be mixed up with the breakaway club Enfield Town play in Bishop Stortford rather than in Enfield, where they share Woodside Park with Bishop Stortford. With nothing much happening locally for us, it was a good opportunity to get to an FA Vase match at a new ground. In all honesty, it was a pretty one sided game and the Es were good for the win. They started off applying a lot of pressure on Hackney Wick and Dwade James gave the hosts the lead on 19 minutes after Ayo Odokuyo had done all of the hard work. It somehow remained 1-0 at half time despite all of Enfield's efforts. The second half carried on in much the same way the first had ended. On 48 minutes, Enfield got a deserved second when Grosvenor scored from a Warman free kick. A Cockman header made it 3-0 in stoppage time and despite the goal coming late 3-0 still flattered Hackney Wick.
