the death of the site?

Well the old computer didn't last for long and then the warranty won't cover my new computer, so it seems like I will be computerless for the quite a while. The only reason that I am posted now is because I have a computer from work that I will be using next week in Italy. So hopefully not, but this could well be the death of the site. Oh well I enjoyed writing it while it lasted

The demise of a computer signifies the end of this site of yours? Huh?

Anyhow, Ely City have a friendly at the Unwin against Cambridge United on July 10th 19:45. Be there or be square!

I just got a new one, so will probably get going again when there is football on, which reminds me... see you next Tuesday

Bit of an odd game last night. Clearly outclassed, as one would expect, and probably saved from a severe trashing by the appalling weather in the second half. Over 500 attended apparently. Ely were spirited, if clumsy in defence, and totally lacking going forward. I think Brady had a good game, and Pacey was brave (reckless?). Heard on the grapeving that Dale Archer is languishing in the reserves due to some sort of fallout with the manager. A case of 'watch this space', because, having lost Pettit, and his opportunist goals, we are going to struggle to 'find the net'. Mason and Archer are my dream team (sic) of a strike force, so, we shall see!

Strange game indeed. I completely agree with your comments here, mate, although both sides were experimenting a bit, so I don't think we should take it too seriously. What happened to the mass exodus that everyone was talking about? Nearly everyone from last season was still playing last night.I don't think you should be too hard on Mr.Mason though, although we are planning on having a sweepstake on how many bookings he can pick up during the season. I somehow think it will be higher than the number of goals he gets

Very true that the squad hardly seems diminished since the new regime took control. One can only wonder how the possible intention of cutting costs has been achieved by adding more players to the squad than have departed. This is a shoestring business, after all. On a different note, I would have liked to have seen Archer play against Cambridge, as I think his 'tank' approach might have unsettled the more drilled and polished opposition. I still believe a Mason/Archer pairing is our best(/only) bet, but combined with some decent passing from the midfield, rather than the boot it skywards 'tactic' currently employed. It could have been a lot worse last night, but I have yet to perceive any substantial change in playing direction brought by the new regime.
