Norwich City 1 West Bromwich Albion 2
The Championship kicked off on Saturday and this was a game that Norwich were expected to win. On the way things were going towards the end of the season, it would appear that they would have aspirations of the playoffs, whereas West Brom would probably be happy to consolidate their place in the division, what transpired was quite different though.
For most of the game it looked like Norwich were going to get the win as they pressured West Brom constantly. However, Max O'Leary in goal for the Baggies and their centre half pairing of Nat Philips and George Campbell were able to keep the Canaries at bay.
Before the break Norwich had come close of a few occasions. In the opening few minutes Kenny McLean forced a save from O'Leary. In the half there were also really good chances for Andre Brooks and Kellen Fisher that they failed to convert.
The second half continued in the same way that the first half had finished. In the opening encounters Brooks almost caught O'Leary out after a mistake by Ousmane Diakite. Moment later Slimane was clear through for Norwich, only for Philips to stop him at the last minute; and Philips was the hero again when he saved a Brooks hit with his chest.
Philips then almost became the hero at the other end with a header from a Callum Styles' corner. This was probably Baggies' first real opportunity and it took about 70 minutes in the making. However, it did seem to galvanise them into action. With 15 minutes to go Jimmy Jay Morgan found Aune Heggebo at the fair post and he (literally) punched the ball into the back of the net. The officials didn't see anything though and the goal counted.
Albion really did have the bit between their teeth at this point. Isaac Price forced a spectacular save from Vladan Kovacevic and Morgan doubled the visitor's lead with three minutes left on the clock.
Norwich continued to try and break down the Baggies and Matthias Kvistgaarden pulled one back for the Canaries at the death, but despite the onslaught West Brom held on for the win.
