 This game saw John McGinn make his 300th appearance for Aston Villa and like most other people (although I would never admit it) saw this as an easy win for Villa. After a poor start to the season, Villa have been in some incredible form and we're up to 4th. Wolves on the other hand were routed to the bottom of the table on a measly 2 points. It therefore came as no surprise that wolves main tactic was to defend in numbers and try and hit Villa on the break. At times this looked like it might work, as Wolves forced a few good saves from Emi Martinez. However, not to detract from Martinez's efforts, a number of these efforts were given offside, and fortunately one that beat him was to. I think that if we were still in the era where linesmen put their flag up straight away, a number of people wouldn't have convinced themselves that Wolves were in this game as much as they might have thought. The first set I got was in the mid 80s with Nigel Spink and a couple of Watford players on the front. The set came with the generic red and blue teams, but a neighbour got a few teams out of his loft and gave the me, The ones that were and are still in tact came from the late 60s and had the goalkeepers on wire. The teams were Coventry, Wolves and West Ham, the yoke on the shirt gave it away that it was West Ham, although naturally we used them predominately as Villa. Wolverhampton Wanderers The Wolves team is a fairly rare one with the gold bases and was only made for one season at the end of the 1960s. The season hasn't exactly got off to a good start for any of my clubs, but Peterborough are doing even worse than any of the others. Seven games in and Posh are still to register a point in the Championship. Yesterday we went to see Posh take on Wolves at London Road and to be honest we didn't really expect Peterborough to get a win from a Wolves team who have made some good money in the transfer window and have reinvested it wisely in the squad. It was good to get to a professional match though and we had a really good time even though the result didn't go Borough's way. The first half hour saw Wolves in the ascendancy and although 'the Football League Paper' gave Mark Little and Gabriel Zakuani low marks both of them did well to keep the Wolves at bay for the opening section.
