King's Lynn Town 2 Curzon Ashton 0

A bumper crowd gathered at the Walks on Saturday hoping to see the Linnets secure promotion to the National League Premier. They needed a win, but needed struggling Bradford Park Avenue to get a result against Fylde. Lynn kept up their side of the bargain with a comfortable win over Curzon  Ashton, however Fylde also won 2-0 and Bradford were sent down.

Curzon Ashton were Cambridge's opposition in the FA Cup in one of the worst games I have ever been to earlier in the season. That finished 0-0, so at least when Gold Omatoya scored on 12 minutes Lynn had achieved something that Cambridge didn't in  210 minutes - score against Curzon.

In truth it was a game that Lynn dominated and when Josh Barrett scored on 60 minutes, Lynn were really cruising.

Unfortunately, after a dodgy patch that saw the Linnets lose their grip on the automatic promotion spot when they had one hand on it, they will now have the play-offs to contest. They may well be the favourites to win this, but I think Chester could have come good at the right time.
