King's Lynn Town 0 Hereford 0

Image
Despite starting the season with a wealth of players up front King's Lynn have lost all of their established goalscorers and this really showed on Saturday. The young Sean Sealey showed some good movement, but was bullied a bit by their older defenders. Both sides had chances and Lynn looked the better team in the first half, but neither of the goalkeepers had much to worry about. The second half was more even and Hereford looked to take advantage after Cameron Forde Brown hobbled off with what looked like a nasty injury and Ross crane was sent off for what looked like an innocuous challenge. However, neither side looked like scoring today and it did indeed finish 0-0

Downham Town 0 Felixstowe & Walton United 2

Yesterday Downham took on Felixstowe on a freezing cold day that saw most matches called off. Fair play for them for getting the game on, but unfortunately, that was a about all they got right. Downham started the game off fairly well and Charlie Royle and owain McQuaide looked as lively as usual. Downham had some early chances and Royle hit the inside of the post on seven minutes. However, it felt again like they were missing something up front. A long ball through to De La Paz saw the Seasiders take the lead on 23 minutes, as they seemed to catch the Downham defence napping and showed them how it was done. De La Paz also had a couple of chances to increase the lead, but at halftime it was still 1-0 to the visitors. Downham came out looking motivated to get back in the game in the second half and Royle and Visocanskis posed a threat for the home team without looking overly dangerous. Felixstowe looked disciplined at the back and seemed to be able to deal with Downham. They hit Do...

Cambridge United 2 Walsall 0

Yesterday saw Cambridge take on Walsall on the first day of the year. Cambridge have been drifting around the play off positions; Walsall after a good start to the season have dropped in to the play off positions after being top of League 2 for most of the season so far. The first half for the most part was a bit of a cagey affair with the two teams cancelling each other out. Just as it looked like the teams were going to go into the break on level terms, James Brophy picked out Ben Knight who drove home to put Cambridge ahead in stoppage time. The goal probably changed the team talks for each manager and both came out on the front foot. However, it was Cambridge who found the back of the net though when Ben Knight got his second with a fantastic lob of the Walsall keeper on 53 minutes.  For the rest of the game both teams had chances with Bowne hitting the post for the visitors and a speculative bicycle kick from Ben Knight hitting the cross bar and Jobe also hitting the pos...
