The end of Scarf of the day

So, now I am looking for a new project or perhaps some scarves to add - there are a few more in the cupboard, but they are Dynamo Kyiv and Aston Villa ones that are very similar to ones already covered!

Scarf of the day #33 OCG Nice

Image
Following on from yesterday, this scarf was also from a local derby held in October. This time it was in 2018 as OCG Nice took on Marseille at the Allianz Riviera. It was at a time when Lucien Favre had Nice playing some exciting football with players such as Balotelli and Saint-Maximin. Unfortunately, the game was settled by a goal from Marseille's Morgan Sanson just before the break. Nice were probably good for the draw, but it wasn't to be. A decent enough game though and a good atmosphere.

Scarf of the day #32 Bologna

Image
Back in October 2016 we ventured over to Bologna for the local derby between them and Sassuolo. It finished 1-1 and it wasn't a classic, but it was a great laugh and the city was well worth a visit.

Scarf of the day #31 Feyenoord / Utrecht KNVB Cup final 2016

Image
Today's scarf isn't from a game we went to, but back in 2016 when we saw Feyenoord beat Excelsior 3-0. For some reason these were the only scarves on sale and the cup final was played a couple of weeks later. Luckily, it worked out for Feyenoord and they won the final 2-1 at their own stadium (where the final is usually held, much to the disgust of Sparta when they reached the final). Mikiel Kramer put Feyenorrd in the lead before Ramon Leeuwin equalised. Unfortunately, the winner was an own goal converted by Utrecht's Filip Bednerek.

Scarf of the day #30 Obolon Kyiv (newer version)

Image
This is a newer version of the Obolon scarf and comes from the 4-2 win over Kremin in 2013 that is covered elsewhere in this blog when Obolon were going through their phase of  being Obolon Brovary that came to an end this season. There's more information in the labels.

Scarf of the day #29 Metalist 1925

Image
Here's a real favourite of mine. I spoke at length about what happened to the original Metalist in the post for the Metalist Kharkiv scarf and here are their legitimate heirs and good friends of mine - Metalist 1925.  I went there last in March 2019 for the 'new derby' against Dnipro-1. It was billed as a new rivalry between Kharkiv and Dnipro, but whereas Metalist 1925 have reached legitimacy, most people don't consider Dnipro-1 as the heirs apparent to the old Dnipro. Unfortunately, the game finished 1-0 to Dnipro. Metalist missed out on promotion and Dniopro went up. The season after Dnipro stayed up and Metalist just missed out on promotion again. If things continue as they have started after the winter break, it looks like a trend that is likely to continue at both clubs.

Scarf #28 Chernomorets Odessa / Chornomorets Odesa

Image
The day I bought this was on a cold December day at the start of 2007 when Dynamo beat Chornomorets 5-2 at the Lobinovskiy Stadium. It was a very cold and snowy day and that cold that I needed two scarves and so I go this one. Another Chernomorets scarf (Novorossisk) had got thrown away so I thought this one would be a good replacement. Fast forward 13 years and I am wearing it on another cold December day, this time for Ely Crusaders though. As you might notice, the name on the scarf is given as Chernomorets Odessa (Russian version) rather than Chornomorets Odesa (Ukrainian version). Odesa has always been a Russian speaking part of Ukraine and things like that weren't important then either. I've always liked Chornomorets. The first time I saw them was against CSKA-2 on a secondary school field, which seemed quite sad for one of the famous names of Ukrainian football. They did make a comeback though and got a nice stadium for Euro 2012. However, they have been in a bit of a sl

Scarf of the day #27 Clapton FC (Brigata Italiana)

Image
There's a lot going on with this scarf, so just take in the amount of graphics that went into putting this scarf together. It all went a bit downhill after this, but this scarf from the Italian Ultras brings back fond memories and in particular of the day I got it at the Old Spotted Dog (some photos from the day are below). It finished 7-0 to Clapton against Burnham Ramblers on the last day of the season. A beautiful sunny day at the end of April. This scarf really came in handy today though as it's snowing - a lot.
