London Broncos 6 St Helen's 52

Image
When we decided to go and see the Broncos take on the Saints, we expected it to be a pretty one sided affair - and it was. When the visitors went 24-0 up after 25 minutes, it looked like it could be a record score. However, despite a three try spree in 8 minutes in the second half, they didn't go on to break any records, but still enjoyed a very comfortable win. With a couple of minutes left on the clock, we were finally treated to a try with Lee Kershaw bursting through the Saints defence   and Oli Leyland converting the quick. It strangely did quieten the visiting fans who had been superb and sung all the way through the match.

On the way to the Stoop, we saw the impressive Twickenham Stadium. I doubt that I'll go there for a match any time soon, but never say never!

Rugby pubs in Twickenham

After a bit of a hiatus after the football season finished, I went down to London to see some Rugby League (not Union despite the venue) as bottom placed London Broncos took on league leaders St.Helen's in the Super League - that turned out as expected, but more of that later.  Ahead of the game we took in a couple of the local rugby pubs, the world famous Cabbage Patch and the excellent Scrummage. We had planned on going to more that a couple of pubs, but we had so much fun at the Scrummage, we didn't make it past there. Above are some photos from The Scrummage.  Below is one from the Cabbage Patch
