Walk around Hibernian

Image
On Sunday we had a bit of a walk around Edinburgh and apart from the other sights to see, we went to have a quick look at the Hibernian ground.

Rosyth 1 Cowdenbeath 2

Saturday saw us taking a trip to near the Forth Bridge to see Rosyth take on Cowdenbeath. It was a hot day and I got an infamous Glasgow tan! The game was entertaining enough and a good work out for the players and judging by the number of trialists,  a chance for the coaches to look at potential new signings. Cowdenbeath took the lead before Rosyth equalised before halftime and Cowdenbeath got a winner in the second half. Cowdenbeath, as you would expect were the better team.

Dunfermline Athletic 0 St. Pauli 3

The main reason for our trip to Scotland was to see the game between St.Pauli and Dunfermline. After a boozy night with St. Pauli fans in Leith we took the train up to Dunfermline. We went to the Spoons and it was already clear that Pauli were taking over the town. We also had a quiet pint in Raffles. After going to have a look at the ground and checking into the hotel, we went back to soak up the atmosphere that was added to by the Green Brigade turning up. However, it was still all about St.Pauli. In the end it was a fairly easy game for the visitors, as you might expect. They won through goals from Johannes Eggestein in the first half and Hauke Wahl and David Otto (who both came on at halftime). It was a decent performance by both teams, but it really was about St.Pauli and the 3,000 fans they brought. To be fair, a lot of them were from Britain and the tifo was supplied by Glasgow fans of St. Pauli, but what an experience and what a club. I have been to the Millentor and Jolly Roge

What a weekend in Scotland

On Thursday we flew up to Scotland, mainly for St.Pauli's visit to Dunfermline, but we also took in the sites of the bars of Leith; Rosyth v Cowdenbeath and a gig by the Wakes. So an exhausting but an amazing weekend was had. Pre-season really did start early this year!
